all i know is that kids are out of school for the
next 2 days and these houligans are going to
stay out late and smash pumpkins....
i'm bringing mine inside every night!

isn't that cool! she's reallly excited about it too!

36 days til thanksgiving!

kiki sent this to me yesterday...
she, my brother mike and their son owen
went to an apple orchard the other day and
snapped this shot...





there are 3 of us striving and vowing to drop
10 pound by turkey day....
so far for me? not so good.
you mean to tell me that m&m's are not
a food group!?

okay, when oprah said, yesterday on national
television, that she was down to her goal
weight of 154.....i must admit, i was a little
upset with myself. i mean, didn't she weigh
like 130 pounds more just a year ago????
how dare she pass me up! (by a couple pounds)
why is it that it seems tougher to lose 10?
my guess is that it's because it's ONLY 10.
some excuse, right?

look, this is the time of year when we all
like to get into the "comfort food", am i right??
well, good gracious, what now?
i have 36 days left on my goal of 10 pounds.
at least i'm not staring at 50, right?
oh, gotta go, gary said dinner is ready!! :)

confession.....when i'm not losing weight,
it helps to watch "the biggest loser" and see
what those folks are going through.
makes me feel like a big 'ol baby!
they'd probably say to me....."10 pounds?
10 POUNDS? i can CRAP 10 pounds in a day!"
a bit humbling.

what about holly & john???

gary and i were in playa last february
at the same time as holly & john.
(they're from houston and i shot their
wedding in february of '05)
they were in town celebrating their
1 year anniversary. we hope to bump
into them again this winter!
here's a couple of shots from
holly & john farrar's wedding.....
(i got to do her hair too!)

they marched all the way through town
up the famous "5th avenue" with the
mariachi's! people lined the streets
and cheered!!



but before that, the entire wedding
party stopped off at the beach for
a cocktail hour....

sorry....i JUST posted yesterday's blog.

i walked away from the computer and didn't
realize until this morning that i never hit "publish".
(no blonde jokes!!)
but as promised here are more shots from
recent desination weddings......

alex & kristin...playa del carmen mexico.
april 2004...as a part of the "welcome basket"
in each room of the hotel they had bucket hats
made with the wedding date on them!

this is me, kristin & my sister in law, nicki,
who came along to assist me...she had NEVER
been to mexico (she's been back twice since!).









here's kate & jeremie...originally from
minnesota now living in florida, married
on janurary 21st of this year.
they selected isla morada in the florida keys.
really a great spot. they have these big 'ol
plantation style homes that are huge and
well equipped for rent.

i'll hit the 11 o'clock service with the
rest of my family.
i intended on going early so i could make
a run down to the mpls convention center
for the bridal show. it's just way too nice
out, i may pass. i have to be indoors later
today for a class.."digital wake up call".
i purchased the ticket back in april.
i can't believe it's october 15th!

gary and i are planning an overhaul of
the front and back of the house.
prep it for winter.

we are talking about playa again.
seems we can't get our minds off of it.
we'd like to go somewhere else, but where?
we love the caribbean and we don't want to
get stuck on some cliff somewhere with a
rocky beach or at an all inclusive with nowhere
to go. we've come to know so many people
there and i have a couple of wedding coordinators
there that could (if i want) find a wedding for me
to shoot while we are there. that's always fun.
last year i shot a wedding for a couple that i
came to find out was actually from minnesota!

hudson, wisconsin now.......







last november, i shot a wedding for a couple
from new york, just 5 weeks post "wilma"...crazy!
she models for j.jill......this was in playa as well...

i called my sister yesterday and she answered
sobbing! "what????" i asked. she's had really
aweful back trouble in the recent past and
now all of a sudden had limited mobility and
her left hand and leg were numb!!
i dropped everything and drove right over there
and got her to her chiropractor. she's doing
better but this also occured at the same time i was
supposed to shoot that luncheon....sorry, family
first. plus, i can't STAND it when my sister cries!

gary is down in fairfax with a group of
guys pheasant hunting. they do this
every year in preparation for their
winner, south dakota trip towards the end
of this month.
fortunately it warmed up a bit today.
it's been really nasty.

i ordered a ton of images the other day
and just found out that there will be a delay
in delivery due to the fact that WHCC
is right across the street from the building that
blew up the other day and they were among
some of the business that had to evacuate!
CRAZY! i should get my stuff on monday.

i found a great floor easle the other day to display
large images!

i'm not enjoying this but i'm sorting through all
of my receipts and getting myself organized.
this is good for me...usually it's january before
i get around to this. then i say, "i'm going to start
earlier next year!" and i never do. not this year!

tomorrow i'm going to try to pop by the bridal fair
in minneapolis. i've never gone, i've never been
a vendor there, i just thought it would be interesting
to see it first hand to see if i'm missing out.
this one is just one day and it is supposed to be
gorgeous out. i hope they get the traffic they
need! this time of year is always tricky!

i will be photographing a luncheon today
that my church, Westwood, is hosting at
National Waterworks in Eden Prairie as a
gesture of thanks for their contribution of
all the pipe for the Honduras water project.
folks will be sharing photos and stories of
the journey...i'm looking forward to it.

perhaps now God will show me how i can recover
the money that brian price owes me for his
head shots....here's brian..taken in march '06



so now i am waiting to hear back from hobie's
MVRS vet. he was scheduled to go in today
for a liver panel (it's been 3 months since his
last one) and i forgot to pick up his food last
night before i went to bed so he most likely
ate during the night and he was supposed to
have fasted! i've picked it up now and haven't
given him his morning meal and he is a little
cross, let's just say!

my neighbor had a "silpada" jewerly party last
night. i swore i wasn't going to buy anything.
i was just going to attend, have some wine,
chat with all the gals and go. nope, that's not
quite the way the evening went.
i actually ran home (literally ran.....soooo not me)
and got more money! what happened to the plan?
stick to the plan! don't deviate from the plan!
be strong! sadly (not really), i am the proud owner
of a gorgeous, chunky turquoise necklace, two
rings and the jury is still out on the very beautiful
wooden, beaded necklace...i may not end up with that.
and to think that i could have bought this really
great chair at home goods yesterday as a prop!
i thought..naaaaa, too much for a prop.
HA!
i'm weak........the first step, i'm told, is admitting it.

i know....it's not much but when you wake up
and see it, you know it's over and old man
winter is on his way. i think it's 26 degrees right now
and todays high? a new low! truly sad. it's october 12th
for God's sake!
notice my hearty hibiscus on the patio...NOT happy.
we never bring those in. we just use them as
annuals and then let it go...no prisoners!

hey, i never wrote about my PUG meeting the other night.
we met at jason & stacey thon's studio in edina...

it's really great, a big 'ol warehouse decorated like a loft
apartment, tons of space and a great location.
there were a couple of newcomers and then the usual
suspects. stacey goodell from art leather was there to
speak and show us samples of their albums.
some were really terrific and not over the top pricey.
i plan to order some samples soon.
we discussed the future of our group and where we
wanted to go and how we wanted to use this time.
i was elected to be the "spotlight studio" for next month.
it falls on election day....maybe i'll get silly and tie it in.
this simply means that i will talk about my studio and
show my work...you know....toot my horn a little.
in that i just did that for my networking group i feel
i'm pretty set except that these folks DO know the
difference between shooting raw vs. jpg and a 1.4 lens
vs. a 2.8 so a little different but fun to share.
i think jason will be a great PUG leader. thanks for
stepping up jason!

bob was aksed to shoot oprah's "legends ball",
oprah's nieces wedding in the bahamas,
michael jordan and a host of other famous folks!
his stuff is crazy great!
he, get this, belongs to none other than...
PICTAGE!!! i freaked when he said that!

he preached the importance of practicing,
he scared us all straight about not
setting up umbrellas at weddings...not
neccesary. he stood right there and
prooved it! he nearly exclusively uses
the gary fong lightsphere 2 on flashes
attached to monfrotto tripods..super
easy to manipulate...in & out. LOVE it!!
he also ran several slide shows of his work.
it was a great night and again....invaluable!

new week. i got up when it was
still dark out! i know, i can't believe it
myself. i'm really more of a "wake up
with the sun" kind of person.
due to the fact that i don't have a
traditional job AND today is a day off
for me in most respects.

hey, something really funny happened
yesterday.
i sat down to the computer and googled
"pictage"..then "pictage rieviews" then
"pictage awful"....you know what?
there ARE other folks out there that think
the same thing i do. i saw a thread that
read "pictage sucks" and "never let them use
pictage"...it was a little eye opening to say
the least.
then, now this is the wierd part, as i ran
down the list of google results, i actually
found MY BLOG listed and the things that
i've written about them...soooo freaky!
I was near the top of the 3rd page when i
googled "pictage awful".
wonder if anyone at pictage reads THOSE?
well, now here i've gone and entered their
name again...so watch for my blog again
on google! weird, right?

gary's mom is coming up to take gary and i
to lunch for a little belated birthday get
together (gary's birthday was on the 1st)

today is my sister in law, laurie's birthday!
yes, my family is chalked full of october birthdays.
jimbo (aka "the spoiler") is next on the 17th.

moving on...
i love this time of year but when the leaves
all fall and the color is gone it's a bummer.
it might as well snow....did i just say that??

it's a really tough call.
i give up a "pro consultant" and unlimited uploads.
i don't talk to my pro consultant much anymore
and my schedule is a little lighter this month.
i believe that i will stay on but at one of the lesser tiers.
it's perfect for now!

everyone say hello to June and Garrick! June is
nicki's ( my sister in law) "mum" in england
and "Gary"... June's husband.
i spoke with them on friday and Gary was intrigued
with the whole "blog" thing.
they maybe checking in from time to time.
just in case they do today....i would like for them
to know that i'm going to be photographing jessica
soon for her birthday present.

twin's season....over :(

brad radke retired after yesterday's
sweep loss to the oakland athletics.
i met him in excelsior in june.
he was so gracious to stop what he
was doing with his family to allow
me to photograph him with some
young friends (old nieghbors) of mine.
i happened to be in excelsior with
my camera photographing a baptism
for my church and there he was.
thanks brad for making a young man's
dream come true!!!!
now we just need for him to autograph
it, so if anyone knows how we can
contact him....contact me.


well, my stuff didn't come yesterday!
how is it that you order "2 day air" on
wednesday through UPS and you don't
get your stuff until monday???
oh, well. i guess i'm glad it's coming
on monday....if i'd have waited a couple
more days i would have been SOL in that
B&H is out east and they shut down for
10 days over rashashana/yom kippur.
the same in spring with passover.
the cut off date for shipping was friday.

alex (whose senior portraits i shot back
in august) is graduating from benilde this
spring. they require another photo submission
for the school to display in the halls.
this one cannot be an outdoor shot so she's
coming today for a more formal portrait.

game two today at noon.



i had a sort of early morning shoot yesterday
at the home of kristine & scott carlston
here in eden prairie. nice and close, actually.
beautiful home all decked out for halloween!
everything went really great!
well, that is until i got home and discovered
that something went horribly wrong with the
majority of them. WHY!!!!?? WHY!!!!??
i worked on it all day yesterday!@#*!
here's one that did come through it all...
rich gannon, former viking and now is in
planning & development for the group.



i contacted them for a re-shoot.
i really hate doing that! but unfortunately it
happens (not often thank God) and you
just have to push through and do it again.
i'm a perfectionist and i never settle for
"that'll do"....ever. sorry gang, it'll be worth it!
waiting to hear back on a re-shoot date.

i packed up the equipment and headed over
to see my nephew, owen...he's 18 months old.
his mom, kindra, made the most darling panda
costume for him to wear for halloween.
if he grows an inch between now and then
i said he'll have to go without a diaper
or it won't fit!!! nice.
kindra is quite talented and i wanted to
photograph him in it now...so cute.
he loves it and if i'd have remembered to take
the card out of her card reader, i would have
posted an image. later perhaps.
i stayed and had dinner with them.

machie's birthday today...gary's brother's
only daughter....she's out at USC in her
last year of film school....ummmmm 22 i think!

my mom's birthday is friday.....

she loves that place and hasn't been there much
since her friend, judy, got sick and passed away.
they went all the time...she furnished her living

the arboretum was alive with people
yesterday! when i drove in and saw
2 lines of cars~i freaked a little.
then as i got inside the gate area
and drove around i noticed that there
was nowhere to park, sit, stand, walk,
drive...i mean the place was CRAWLING
with people.
there was a 2-day fall gathering-something
or other-going on and of course it was
the most spectacular day as well so,
i called the row family to warn them and
also to inform them NOT get in the long line
of cars-they are able to just drive in on my
photographer's pass and not wait in line
to pay...a nice perk, really. eSPEcially that day!
I mean, seriously, i nearly cancelled our shoot
due to all the people. we would be limited
as to where we could plop down...there
proved to be people everywhere we went.
i had to get pretty creative with spots to shoot.
knowing the grounds at the arboretum
helped a lot too!

go shoot a golf benefit today!

gary is the first in a long list of

his niece, machie (out at USC
film school where she is in her final year)
is next with the 4th and my mom's is
friday the 6th.

it was so gorgeous yesterday! sunny,
70 something! we did a little bon fire
last night and had a really great bottle
of cabernet. couldn't stand to watch
glen mason and the minnesota gophers
get clobbered by michigan so what the heck...
head outside on a beautiful night, right!?

later today i have a photo shoot with a
family that won my services in a raffle at
the miraclekids triathlon back in august.
a family of four. they are really pumped
about it too! i'll post some images tomorrow.

been playing with my new amber~dome
on my lightsphere...It's mighty nice!
really great in the tungsten setting.
the shots of Gary and hobby above were taken
with it in addition to one of my new
subtopics...It warms things up a bit.

looking into renting out a friend's condo
in playa for 10 days in February....
also looking into heading down for the
phoenix open the end of January.
with gary's shoulder sugery creeping
up on us (1st week of november) we're
not sure how travel this winter is going
to play out. i'd hate to leave him behind.....
just kidding!!! REALLY!!

marissa's images last night while gary
watched "narnia".....absolutely one of
my all time favorite movies!!
i remember the books as a child and
i thoroughly enjoyed the movie!!

yesterday...i am now in need of some models
to try my new lighting and my new
lightsphere amber dome!

gary just informed me that he is going
to the twins game today with his boyfriend,
jimbo....well, that's what i call him anyway.
well actually a number of years ago i started
calling jimbo "the spoiler" cuz he used to
show up at nearly every vacation we have ever
been on..he'd come walking up the beach
in his "salmon" shorts with a gym bag in
one hand and a cold, adult beverage in the
other and ask, "hey, can i toss this in your room?"
and i'm like...NO, get your own damn room!
then the two of them would go on a tour and
head off down the beach...whatever.

most weekends they are joined at the hip.

seeking out festivals in little towns near
and far....gary and jimbo are "festival chasers"!
i think that jason davis should do a story on them!

there are just too many to count.
so NOW he gets to go to a twins/white socks game!
they truly are "buddies for life" and it's really kinda
cool...i'm such a good wife to put up with it. :)

i'd better get going and post this...jacquie gets
pretty anxious if i don't get this up early in the day!
besides, i have to go and get gary's b-day present
for tomorrow!! :)

my family owns an ad specialty
business so i'm going to order some seals
made of my logo for the packaging as well.
can't wait!

attended a wine & cheese gathering last
night for the miracles of mitch foundation

held to get folks hyped up about the
"minnesota miracle" event on new years eve!

i'm so BAD about that!! sorry you two!
